My preference for most woodworking tasks is to use hand tools but I have to admit that some power tools are too useful and time saving to be easily dismissed.
Having been subjected to some very unpleasant routing noise this morning and in turn subjected my fellow students to a jigsaw I thought I’d write a list of good and evil machines.
Good ( relatively quiet)
Band saw
Pillar & hand drills & mortiser
Disc sander
Lathe
Noisy but really useful
Planer thicknesser
Biscuit and domino cutters
Evil – noisy and best avoided
Power router
Random orbit sander, actually most powered sanders
Table & other circular saws
Jig saw
Spindle moulder
Just my opinion at a point in time.
